Bible Odyssey, a service of the Society of Biblical Literature, provides important resources for Bible scholars. Hearing about their mission to inform people about the content of the Bible and critical approaches to it, we were eager to help get their website working toward that mission, too.
With an outdated brown background and boxy, cluttered design, the Bible Odyssey website needed a facelift and additional functionality to better serve the organization’s mission and members.
We got to work, first moving the site from Sitecore to WordPress and then updating the site to a clean, modern design with a custom theme. The new site includes helpful features, such as:
- Search the Bible feature through custom API integration
- Dictionary search tool
- Custom blocks for the homepage
We were also able to add special touches to improve both accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO) for the website so that more Bible scholars can find the site and use the wealth of resources once they arrive.
Coming from a dark and dated website, the new site is a breath of fresh air. The Bible Odyssey website now serves as a more helpful and up-to-date tool for Bible scholars, filled with robust search functionality for scholarly research. Internally, their team is happy to have a website that better represents their brand and that’s easy to update and grow with their work to better serve their mission.
