Mission West Virginia (MWV) reached out to us about creating a brand new nonprofit website for the Adoption Resource Exchange (ARE), to serve as a statewide site for West Virginia youth waiting for an adoptive family.
As an organization, Mission WV has served as a longstanding organization dedicated to recruiting foster families and finding families for youth waiting for an adoptive family, and we’re so glad to be a part of that mission.
Their main goal was to create a site that had a simple and aesthetically pleasing visual design that highlighted their main focuses of the youth photo gallery and resources.
The photo gallery, where youth waiting for adoption are compiled into an easy to navigate gallery, is also organized with filters for gender, age range, and race. And as a facilitator for adoptions, Mission WV wanted the site to have a way for families to view and keep track of youth they’re interested in adopting. To do so, we utilized the Ultimate Member plugin, allowing users to create a login and ‘bookmark’ youth they’re interested in adopting. We’ve integrated this with Gravity Forms on the site, so interested families can fill out a registration form to inquire about waiting youth on the site.
A main section on the site is their resources pages, providing more details on ARE and the process for adoption for youth and for families, a questionnaire where youth can share information about themselves for potential families, and access to webinars and Mission WV’s library catalog for families considering adoption. And they also offer resources for professionals in the field, including details on the ARE protocol, tips on writing effective narratives for youth, and more.
As a whole, their custom nonprofit website pairs great visual design with plugins that allow them to display current youth waiting for adoption in an easy to understand format, and offer resources for youth, families, and professionals wanting to get more information on the adoption process.
