Weeksville Heritage Center is an historic site and cultural center in Central Brooklyn that uses education, arts, and a social justice lens to preserve, document, and inspire engagement with the history of Weeksville, one of the largest free Black communities in pre-Civil War America, and the Historic Hunterfly Road Houses.
Their objectives with this project were to have a more engaging, modern, and well-performing site that resonates with their community, ultimately helping them increase their visibility and expand their audience. They felt that their previous site didn’t communicate well who they were as an organization and what their mission and work entails.
We designed and created templates for each of their post types, and specialty post types including exhibitions, collects, events, and programs/projects. These templates more accurately reflect their style and are a way of displaying their content in an easy-to-understand format.
