It is the mission of Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) to improve the availability and quality of health care in resource-scarce countries. They are accomplishing this through the education, training, and professional development of local health workforces. Our team loves a good challenge and was up to the task of puzzling through a custom website setup for their members.
In addition to a beautiful and user-friendly website, HVO needed a robust and customized membership system to provide their members with support and resources.
We built their new website on WordPress and created a membership system with customized displays, advanced filtering capabilities, custom user roles in the backend, and custom content blocks. Members are able to opt-in, select their specialties, and see custom content based on the distinct group of specialties that they select, including within the resource library.
Our developers were able to use Ultimate Member for the membership plugin and FacetWP to power the resource library, making a slew of custom updates to ensure each tool worked as the HVO team needed it to.
In order to help members prepare for trips overseas, we also built the custom post type “Project” to enable the HVO team to share details about specific projects with members working on each project. These include checklists that will display for a member once they indicate they’ll be working on a particular project. Users can check off items in the checklist once they’ve been completed to keep the whole team updated on what’s left to be done.
The new website and membership system allows members to focus on the content and tasks that are most relevant to them, providing a top-notch experience for these important supporters.
