They envisioned a site that would make it easier for educators to find, use, and share lessons while giving staff a more efficient way to manage updates. Our goal was to design a platform that achieved these priorities, and we delivered by creating a site that is visually engaging, easy to navigate, and built with flexible tools that allow the Advocates for Youth team to keep resources accurate, current, and accessible. This project was a prime example of how thoughtful nonprofit website updates can directly support an organization’s mission and impact.
We built the new site on a fully custom WordPress Full Site Editing (FSE) theme, and tailoring it for the specific needs of the 3Rs curriculum. Our design centered on clean, bold typography, vibrant imagery, and intuitive content organization so educators can quickly find what they need. To make lesson plan browsing even easier, we implemented FacetWP-powered faceted search, enabling users to filter lessons by topic, grade level, and language. We also embedded Google Docs directly into the site so the Advocates for Youth team could easily update materials without extra effort. These types of nonprofit website features help educators access the most up-to-date materials while streamlining the workload for staff.
The result is a polished, educator-focused resource hub that reflects Advocates for Youth’s values of inclusivity and accessibility. By creating a dedicated platform for the curriculum, we simplified backend management and improved the overall user experience. Educators now have direct access to flexible K–12 resources, family homework activities, and CDC-recommended health education topics in one central location.
The Advocates for Youth team was thrilled with the outcome, especially the updated Google Embed functionality and the streamlined lesson search.
