We love working with organizations that are dedicated to protecting animals in need, and we were thrilled when the team at FOB reached out to us for a nonprofit web design solution.
The main reason behind the new site was to move away from Wix, as they wanted more control over their site’s speed and performance. They also hoped to improve search engine optimization (SEO) to boost visibility in search results and increase donations through organic traffic. FOB envisioned a modern, professional site that reflected their global impact while making it easier for supporters to learn about bonobos, get involved in their work, and contribute through donations or other means. Our experience with web design for environmental groups positioned us perfectly to help.
We built their new website in WordPress using the lightweight, performance-optimized Blocksy theme and the Gutenberg block editor. This approach offered a flexible, future-proof platform and a user-friendly editing experience. The new site loads faster, is easier to maintain, and gives them the SEO tools they need to reach a broader audience. Our nonprofit visual design strategy focused on clarity, storytelling, and accessibility to showcase the bonobos’ stories and the organization’s life-saving work.
To support outreach and fundraising, we implemented Gravity Forms to create streamlined, easy-to-manage forms. These guide users toward meaningful actions, whether that’s signing up for updates or making a donation. We also structured the site around a clear content strategy and hierarchy structure that highlights FOB’s mission and calls to action, reinforced by cohesive nonprofit visual design.
The Friends of Bonobos team has been enthusiastic about the transition and is already growing confident with the Gutenberg editor. Since we designed the new site around making it as easy to update as possible, they now have full control over managing and growing their content.
The new site delivers on their goals for improved speed, SEO, and usability, setting them up for success to boost their SEO and donor engagement. We’re proud to support their mission by providing a site that not only meets their current needs, but will continue to serve them well for years to come.
