The organization runs education programs and conservancy efforts, but also manages a brick-and-mortar Information Center and bookstore, and offers in-person education programs, so the website needs to do a great job serving all those purposes and audiences.
When we met, the Mono Lake Committee’s site was dated and poorly organized. We built a clean, simple, and well-organized site using the Blocksy theme and Gutenberg blocks. We improved the navigation to helps users find just what they need, and added new taxonomies to the blog to better organize two decades of news articles. We also integrated the WordPress site with Luminate Online and created a beautiful new donation form.
The site’s event calendar allows folks to filter through different types of events to focus only on the ones that suit them, which is great UX considering the many and varied audiences Mono Lake appeals to.
After we built their site back in 2020, we were incredibly excited when the team at the Mono Lake Committee added on one of our maintenance and retainer packages to continue to keep their site updated. Before the retainer, the Mono Lake team were having issues with functionality and maintenance that were hampering their work on a regular basis. They reached out to us not only to resolve these problems, but create longer-term fixes focusing on development work for their main site and online store and lay the foundations for further SEO optimization and Google Ads traffic.
Our first priority was to handle the web maintenance issues which were causing slowdowns in their work processes and hurting user experience. And when they agreed to add a Maintenance and Support package to their updated retainer package, this allowed us to do even more work to fix bugs and handle other smaller requests without dipping into the larger retainer budget or impeding our progress on our overall goals.
When we originally designed the site, we built their donation forms with Luminate Online, but after a few years they were showing their age. In this retainer, we placed an emphasis on improving their conversion tracking and optimizing their donation forms to more accurately track their donations.
Building out the groundwork for SEO and Ads work started with improved conversion tracking, but didn’t stop there. With the improvements made to the function of their site and better optimized donation forms, traffic from Google Ads and organic search will have less barriers to finding the information and resources they’re looking for and will be more encouraged to make a donation.
With this project we’re utilizing the power of our maintenance, support, and retainer packages to resolve minor issues and optimize against further concerns that may damage user experience, as well as lay the foundations for further work that bolsters their long-term goals. We’re happy to have the team as a long-term client and to help them make a difference with their work.
