NAEHCY supports professionals across the nation who work directly with students experiencing homelessness, providing critical support, technical assistance, advocacy, and professional development at the federal, state, and local levels. When NAEHCY came to our team at Cornershop Creative, their website was long overdue for a rebuild, as it was outdated and performance was suffering.
We knew the best move forward was to rebuild the website using WordPress with the Blocksy theme and Block Editor, creating a clean and modern design that highlights NAEHCY’s core services and resources. We started with site map development to better organize their content and designed a style tile to guide the visual direction. Since NAEHCY works with several different types of professionals, we prioritized combining their new polished design with accessibility and readability that reflects NAEHCY’s role as a national leader, and giving us the opportunity to create a thoughtful nonprofit visual design layout that supports both functionality and clarity.
To support NAEHCY’s outreach, engagement, and event management goals, our nonprofit website development focused on integrating a range of powerful tools into the website. Constant Contact and Mailchimp allow the team to manage email communications with their growing network, while Gravity Forms makes it easy to collect information through custom forms. The new PayPal integration enables smooth and secure online donations, and the Events Calendar Pro powers a robust event system that lets users easily find and register for upcoming trainings, webinars, and conferences.
We also customized a People Post Type plugin so NAEHCY can easily highlight staff, board members, and other key individuals. Features like event development and membership tools now make it easier for users to stay engaged and informed. And there’s a new side scroll navigation for a smoother browsing experience and improved SEO across the site to help more people find NAEHCY’s important resources.
This project was a comprehensive web design solution that addressed both the technical needs and strategic goals of the organization. Today, NAEHCY has a website that supports their mission and the nationwide community they serve. It’s easier to use, easier to manage, and better aligned with the incredible work they do every day to support students experiencing homelessness.
