The American Public Human Services Association(APHSA) is an organization that supports leaders from city through state human service agencies to advance the wellbeing of communities nationwide.
Their team reached out to us about moving away from their old vendor and updating their site, finding more effective ways to organize their site and resources to better serve their audience.
As a nonprofit web design agency, we’re well-versed in moving clients over to new site management systems and building brand-new sites from the ground up so we were more than happy to take this project on.
Our first priority was to update the design for the site, bringing it up-to-date with the APHSA’s priorities and needs. This included updating the navigation menu, updating their partner blocks, and creating new blocks that better highlight their posts and programs to create their nonprofit web design solution and put user experience at the forefront.
The main improvements to the navigation page were our updates to the design of the dropdown menus, which were often too long and were cut off by the bottom edge of the page, which through reorganization we were able to resolve, and to the design itself which we updated to a more stylish version. And the new blocks we created allow visitors to see their most recent posts and information and a new spotlight feature where they can highlight more information about a new or outstanding current program that will allow them to further their good work.
One of our other main concerns was to update the blocks showcasing their industry partners, which on the old site, which, while functional, were showing their age. Now with our update, they’ve gotten a new look which better emphasizes their significance to the organization.
Utilizing the combination of Basket and the full site editor, we were able to make a modern, well designed site that better highlights their work focusing our effort on the navigation menu, recent posts and other blocks highlighting their resources and information across the site, and updating their partner blocks. We were incredibly excited to work on this project with APHSA and to redesign and reorganize their site in a way that better suits user experience and priorities of the APHSA team and brings user experience to the center.
