When Beyond Celiac partnered with Cornershop Creative, their website had grown into a massive resource library with more than 6,000 pages—even after removing 2,000 outdated pages. Over time, the site’s navigation had become overwhelming, and visitors struggled to find the information they needed. Beyond Celiac needed a complete website overhaul that could support multiple audiences, including newly diagnosed patients, medical researchers, and supporters ready to contribute to the organization’s mission. With a new venture philanthropy initiative and growing fundraising efforts, they also needed a digital platform that could scale with their expanding impact.
We began with an in-depth discovery and content strategy phase to address the site’s complexity. Our team conducted brand voice development, a full content audit, usability testing, and keyword research. Together with the Beyond Celiac team, we identified which content should be merged, archived, or rewritten to improve clarity and search visibility. Protecting their search rankings was a top priority. During a previous redesign years earlier, the organization had experienced a significant drop in search performance. This time, we built a careful SEO strategy designed to preserve their authority in the celiac disease space while improving rankings for critical keywords.
The design process focused on creating a welcoming and accessible experience for visitors seeking medical information. Through collaborative workshops with Beyond Celiac’s board and leadership team, we developed a visual system that balanced professionalism with approachability. The new site features a thoughtfully illustrated homepage, dedicated landing pages for both patients and professionals, and a streamlined donation page. Custom illustrations related to celiac disease add warmth and clarity to complex medical content, helping visitors engage with the information more easily.
On the technical side, we developed a powerful WordPress website hosted on Kinsta, designed to support a large and growing content library. The new platform includes eight custom post types for blogs, research updates, personal stories, team profiles, and educational resources. We also enhanced their resource library with FacetWP filtering, allowing users to quickly locate relevant materials. Integrations with HubSpot forms and the Funraise donation platform support engagement and fundraising, while a programmatic migration preserved thousands of pages of existing content. Technical SEO best practices were integrated throughout the build to maintain and improve search performance.The result is a clean, accessible, and strategically organized website that positions Beyond Celiac as a leading online authority for celiac disease information. With simplified navigation, improved search functionality, and content structured for both patients and professionals, the new site helps visitors find answers faster while supporting the organization’s mission to drive diagnosis, advance research, and accelerate the discovery of treatments and a cure.
