When Black Mountain Software recognized the need for an online tax calculator capable of accurately managing occupational taxes, they reached out to us here at Cornershop to find an efficient and user-friendly solution.
Since the BMS team had a quick deadline, we began development after our initial discovery process and set out building the custom nonprofit website tool in React. However, as the project evolved, the BMS team raised the need for a database, which React wouldn’t be able to provide. We quickly adapted to better serve their needs and transitioned to WordPress, which allowed us to leverage Gravity Forms to create dynamic tax forms.
By implementing a multisite environment, we ensured that each client can have their own dedicated microsite. We streamlined this process using the NS cloner plugin, allowing for seamless duplication of sites with a standardized foundation, while still enabling client-specific customizations. This approach provided both consistency and flexibility, ensuring a scalable, tailored experience for every jurisdiction.
Once development was complete, we equipped the client with comprehensive documentation and conducted two in-depth training sessions. Our goal was not only to ensure they could confidently navigate and manage the tool but also empower them with the knowledge to effectively guide their own clients. By providing clear, hands-on instruction, we set them up for long-term success and seamless adoption of the tool.

By pivoting to WordPress and leveraging a multisite environment, we created a flexible system that ensures consistency while allowing for client-specific customization.
