The Insurrection Index is a project site coordinated by Public Wise and their partners to provide a database of individuals, organizations, and elected officials who were a part of the January 6, 2021 insurrection.
Insurrection Index has a lot of information packed into a deceptively small website, including resources, records, and profiles for hundreds of people and organizations. To build the website, we used the GeneratePress theme, with Gutenberg as the page builder.
Since the main feature of the Insurrection Index is the searchable database, we used FacetWP to create search options so users can scroll through the available profiles, or do in-depth searches based on specific criteria.
The end result is a robust database with profiles containing details about each insurrectionists’ involvement, information sources, and plenty more information to inform the public. The site bears witness to this black mark on our nation’s history, and encourages us to hold those responsible accountable for their participation.
